18. The licensee must, when requested to do so by an authorised wildlife officer, allow the wildlife officer to inspect any pet herpetofauna to which this licence relates and to inspect the property where the herpetofauna is kept

BACK TO Licence Conditions Explained

A wildlife officer has the right to inspect any wildlife  held under a keepers licence and may inspect further if there is suspicion of illegal animals.

Inspections do not necessarily mean that you have done anything wrong. Inspections can be done randomly to check general status of keepers. There are far too many keepers for all of them to be inspected.

A officer may view any animals held as well as their enclosures and any paperwork in relation to your licence and/or animals.

It is generally in your interest to co operate with wildlife officers. Do not threaten, abuse, discriminate or obstruct officers while performing an inspection.

You must allow the officer to view any animals, enclosures and paperwork but you may also have to surrender anything the wildlife officer says needs to be seized and comply with any warnings or notices given to you by the officer.

You may ask to view a wildlife officers identification but they will usually introduce themselves prior to entering.
